Forest Park Maternity Photos
In this week’s blog post I will share with you Alicia’s Forest Park maternity photos. The images from her session in Forest Park are light on the belly bump, high on the elegance scale. Moreover, her photos show just what can be achieved in a small square of Forest Park during a one-hour session. So, are you ready for some savings AND fantastic photos? Let’s dive in.
Meet Alicia and David
First, let’s meet Alicia and David. This is their first baby, and they are so excited about the arrival of a little girl in about four weeks. Alicia and David live in the Forest Hills neighborhood, and they frequently walk through Forest Park. Furthermore, the couple share a love of hiking, so having a session that focuses on the beauty of nature (and the mother-to-be) made perfect sense.
Forest Park Maternity Photos – A Tour Through Forest Park
We started off the session around the Overlook park administration building. In front of the building is a beautiful plant bed of colorful flowers. We then moved to the pathway right in front of the basketball courts. This pathway, when photographed from the pathway across the plant bed, makes it look like you are surrounded by a stunning meadow.
The next location is the far opposite corner of the park. This is a tiny patch of greenery, but because it has a wall of trees on two sides, photos here make it look like you are alone in a much larger forest. It is also located right next to a secret shortcut to Metropolitan Avenue that cuts through a patch of woods. Again, the aim is to make it look like you have the forest all to yourself. If you were to move the camera ever so slightly, you would see apartment buildings to the left and the busy park behind me.
The final photos were taken walking across the main meadow of Forest Park. There weren’t any kids playing soccer that day, so I only had to take one or two locals out of the frame via Photoshop. Other options for photos in this stretch of Forest Park include a bank of trees at the very back of the park and a playground in the southwest corner. The playground is very popular for my family portraits.
Forest Park Maternity Photos – My Neighborhood Discount Offer
Alicia’s maternity session took advantage of my neighborhood discount offer. My sessions are normally a minimum of 90 minutes for $450. But for Forest Hills locals — my neighbors, since I live in the same ’hood — I offer a discounted session of one hour for $300. This includes all the same benefits of my longer sessions: full editing for all images, low- and high-resolution photos in both color and black and white, and a 48-hour turnaround for highlights. (Full delivery of photos within five weeks.) The area is limited to the square of the park bounded by Park Lane and Park Lane South, however, that’s more than enough room to accommodate most portrait sessions. So, if you’ve got an hour and you’re headed to Forest Hills anytime soon, drop me a line and let’s set up a session.
In addition to being centrally located to the Forest Hills neighborhood, this area of Forest Park has a public restroom, which comes in handy for any outfit changes. There is also the Overlook parking lot, which means clients can easily drive to the location and park with ease.
Forest Park Maternity Photos – Maternity Photo Shoot Tips
Finally, how about a few quick maternity photo shoot tips? The ideal time to schedule your maternity shoot is when you are seven to eight months along. You will definitely be ‘showing,’ but won’t be too uncomfortable on your feet. For clothing options, go for clingy or flowy outfits. Don’t worry too much about investing in a fabulous maternity outfit because there are plenty of companies online that will rent you an outfit for your photo shoot. Definitely include the entire family in your photo shoot, and this is the one time when I encourage clients to bring props. The best props for maternity shoots are a recent sonogram of the baby, anything with the baby’s name on it, or even a cute pair of little shoes. Enjoy the images, and I’ll have more photo adventures for you next week!
