Chinatown Fashion Shoot
Let’s get your weekend off to a fashionable start, shall we? As promised, I am sharing with you photos from a second fashion shoot I did — this time in Chinatown, NYC. I have been wanting to shoot in this part of town for years, and thanks to model Amanda, the photos finally became a reality. There’s just something about the fact that when you are lost in the deepest part of Chinatown, it feels like you have been completely transported to Asia. Our Chinatown in NYC is large enough to have its own zip code, and it is truly a marvelous place to explore.
The theme of the shoot was ‘Where in the world have your shoes taken you?’ The idea is more of a travel/lifestyle shoot, and I hope to recreate the shoot with different models, outfits, and yes, shoes, in different parts of NYC or beyond. These photos are the start of a larger series, and Amanda and I may go back to Chinatown to shoot more. Namely because our Sunday morning shoot didn’t go exactly as planned.
If you have ever been photographed by me, then you know I am diligent in checking out my venues beforehand and drawing up a thorough shot list. This shoot was no exception, and I knew the light would be best in the morning as Chinatown is on the eastern side of Manhattan. The light was great and my choice of locations was fantastic, however…I had not accounted for the early hour on a weekend. I did my venue checks early-ish on a Wednesday. Well, Chinatown is not really open at 8:00 a.m. on a Sunday. As such, most of the places I had planned to explore were closed. Oh well, those places will have to be saved for a follow up shoot.
Enjoy the photos, and if you would like to contact Amanda about future modeling opportunities, you can reach her on Instagram at @Acola107. I’ll have some photos from a fitness portrait shoot next week. Today I am off to explore the city of Poughkeepsie and escape the confines of New York. Have a great weekend, everyone!
