I’m Off to the Wild Blue Yonder of North Carolina!
Anyone care to join me? I am going to (temporarily) become a North Carolina photographer when I go to visit family, June 26 to July 7. I cannot wait to be with my mother and cousins, not to mention the therapeutic change of scenery. And of course, I am looking forward to bringing back lots of photos hikes along the Blue Ridge Mountains. While technically this trip is vacation, I am always looking to keep busy. If you know of anyone in the Asheville/Highlands area who is interested in an engagement or family portrait session, or just another artist looking to collaborate, have them give me a ring! My idea of a vacation involves packing every lens I own plus a few changes of clothes. Always be photographing, I say.
I am going to start my trip in Asheville with a visit to the Biltmore Estate, as well as a day simply walking around the city. I’m thinking a sunset cocktail at the Grove Park Inn plus some live music. I will then be driving to Highlands, where I plan to get in plenty of hiking, not to mention a rodeo and an Indian pow wow. While I have been visiting family in the area for decades, I have never actually ventured outside our usual circle of locations, and I am looking forward to exploring the area with a photographer’s eye. If you have been to the area, by all means let me know what other spots I should add to my itinerary. Brevard, Seluda, Cherokee, Franklin, Cashiers, Dillsboro…more? Stay tuned for stories from the road.
In the meantime, here are a few photos I took of my last trip to the area in September of last year.
