Forest Park Family Photo Shoot
Spring will be here soon enough, and in today’s blog I have some bright and cheery images from a recent Forest Park family photo shoot. Hal’s daughter was traveling all the way from Turkey to visit him in New York. So what better way to celebrate than with a family portrait. I’ve got all the details about their session, so let’s dive right in.
Meet Hal and His Family
Hal is a neighbor of mine in Forest Hills, and Forest Park is our collective backyard, if you will. Hal wanted to commemorate the fact that his daughter was visiting from Turkey and so he scheduled a quick family portrait session using my ‘neighborhood discount.’ Joining us for the shoot would be Serpil, Hal’s wife, and Sammy, their precious little Maltese puppy. While this is a very good looking family, I have to let you know that Sammy really stole the show.
Forest Park Family Photo Shoot – The Details
As with all of my Forest Park portraits, we started in the parking lot, right in the middle of the main flower bed. We then worked our way in a circle around the park. I concentrated most of our portraits in the back of the park where we could be surrounded on three sides by trees. The wall of trees blocked any visitors from entering the background and made it look like we had the park all to ourselves. I also took advantage of the park’s short cut over to Metropolitan Avenue. The photos may look like we are deep in the woods, but if you pan over the left you will find an apartment complex and a major road just behind Hal and his family.
In terms of the order of portraits, I started off with group photos of the family together, and I then focused on Hal’s daughter alone. I would be remiss if I didn’t take photos of little Sammy alone, and he was always game to smile and pant for the camera. Next up were photos with Hal and his daughter and Hal and Serpil, followed by some more group photos.
We had great weather and once again, Forest Park delivered as a fantastic venue. Though this portion of the park is relatively small, it offers lots of different backgrounds packed into one small acre.
Enjoy the images and I’ll have more photo adventures for you next week!
