Meredith & Jonathan’s Astoria Park Engagement
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! I thought sharing with you the Astoria Park engagement photos of Meredith and Jonathan would be the perfect way to end a perfect Sunday afternoon.
Meredith and Jonathan met at work five years ago, and will be getting married at the end of May. In the meantime, they wanted to take a few engagement photos around the neighborhood of Astoria. Jonathan grew up in Astoria, and he and Meredith both lived in the area until recently. The fact that Meredith and Jonathan have such a personal connection to the neighborhood made these photos all the more special. We started off the shoot with the couple sharing cupcakes at Martha’s Country Bakery. As Jonathan describes it, he was like a ‘kid in a candy store’ when he was first introduced to the dessert paradise by Meredith. She has since bestowed upon him the gift of a sweet tooth, and I expect to see this played out with the buffet of doughnuts expected at their wedding reception!
We then walked over to Astoria Park, where we had some great views of both Hellgate Bridge and the NYC skyline. The cherry blossoms are just ending their run, but they were still beautiful. If you haven’t been over to the park, make sure to check out the arches under the Hellgate Bridge as well as the Astoria Pool, which should be opening to the public on Memorial Day.
Finally, we took photos around the area where Jonathan grew up at the corner of Astoria Boulevard and 12th Street. This intersection is an outdoors art gallery of exquisite graffiti, and as Jonathan told me, the revolving exhibit changes almost monthly depending upon which artist is in favor at the time. The colors of the walls are fantastic, and it is amazing what can be done by these artists with a few spray cans.
