Colleen & John’s Nicotra’s Ballroom Wedding
Congratulations to Colleen and John on their recent Nicotra’s Ballroom wedding at in Staten Island! The couple met through mutual friends, and John proposed to Colleen when she came to visit him while he was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. It was there on the beaches of North Carolina that John dropped to one knee over sunset and proposed. She said yes!
Family was a big part of this wedding, and many family members attended from Ireland. One touching aspect of the wedding was the memento in honor of Colleen’s grandmother which she attached to her bouquet. Colleen and John chose to follow tradition and not see each other before they walked down the aisle. Colleen is a teacher, and after the ceremony all of her little students came to give their congratulations (or share tears as one little girl did).
The gardens at Nicotra’s Ballroom are lovely, and present lots of options for creative backdrops, including two gazebos and a Japanese-style garden. We took full advantage and did a full tour for our bride and groom portraits following the ceremony.
The reception was a huge, raucous affair. Topping off the Irish theme for the night was a performance by the McLean Avenue Band, who kept the crowd rocking with traditional Irish tunes all night. Nicotra’s Ballroom provided great ambiance for the evening.
