Downtown San Antonio Engagement Photos
Looking for a location for your engagement shoot that incorporates greenery, history, and a little bit of urban sophistication? How about a location that incorporates all three? Look no farther than downtown San Antonio. Sure, you could always go to the Pearl or the Japanese Tea Garden, but frankly, those spots are a bit monotonous. Downtown gives you lots of backgrounds to choose from. In today’s blog post, I’ll show you just how just how much variety is on tap in the city with Elena and Jared‘s downtown San Antonio engagement photos. Trust me, it’s worth the hassle of trying to find parking.
Downtown San Antonio Engagement Photos – San Pedro Creek Park
As my many past posts can attest (here, here, and here), San Pedro Creek Park is one of my favorite locations in the city. This park is one of the greenest hidden gems in downtown. Something is always in bloom here, and you pretty much always have the park to yourself. It’s basically a larger version of the River Walk, without all of the tourists.
For my photo shoot with Elena and Jared, we started here with a few walks up and down the pathway by Nueva Street along with some photos by the creek itself. I would be remiss if I didn’t take photos with the big Bill Miller water tank in the background. The lighting in the late afternoon was perfect to get these two dancing with the sun setting behind them.
Downtown San Antonio Engagement Photos – La Villita
After some time at the creek, it was time to get a history lesson. We made the walk down through the city streets and took some artsy photos by a large window I had found while scouting the neighborhood. The great thing about downtown San Antonio is that it is pretty much empty during the weekdays. No street traffic, no sidewalk traffic.
Our next stop was La Villita. This quaint little shopping center was pretty much empty as well. The couple danced to their heart’s content on the cobblestone streets. As I mentioned in my previous blog, La Villita is still outgrowing some major landscaping pruning. So, my recommendation is that you stick to the cobblestone street running in front of the La Villita Café for your photos rather than taking photos in the back patio.
Downtown San Antonio Engagement Photos – Hemisfair Park
With the Tower of the Americas right across the street from La Villita, you know you have to include Hemisfair Park in any downtown San Antonio engagement photo shoot. The Tower of the Americas is the emblem of the San Antonio skyline, so of course it warrants a big photo finish.
Even better, Hemisfair Park is full of tasty restaurants and a cute little ice cream shop. That’s the perfect ending to a perfect photo shoot. So, if you’re looking to have a fun photo session and you happen to be in San Antonio, these are the downtown spots that I would recommend.
Meet Elena and Jared
Meet Elena and Jared! These two love birds met in college two years ago during an engineering course at Ohio State College. They have a shared love for all things cosplay and the proposal creatively took place in a bell tower in Croatia. I expect fun things from this couple when they get married back in Elena’s hometown in Ohio.
Enjoy the images, and I’ll have more photo adventures for you next week’s blog post!
