A Beautiful Boerne Backyard Wedding
Brianna and Alexa‘s beautiful Boerne backyard wedding is exactly how I would want to get married. Picture it: you standing in the middle of a dream-like garden, exchanging vows surrounded only by your nearest and dearest friends and family. Afterwards, everyone pitches in to cook together. The wine flows, along with happy memories. You couldn’t ask for a better wedding day, and here are all the details.
Meet Brianna and Alexa
As always, let’s start off by meeting the lovely couple. Brianna and Alexa met in real life, while working together at an upscale restaurant in Austin. Alexa is an accomplished chef, and Brianna was working in the front of the restaurant. In addition to sharing a love of fine food and warm hospitality they also share a birthday month. In May of 2024 they decided mutually to tie the knot, and that brings us to the big, backyard event.
Boerne Backyard Wedding – The Backyard
Backyard weddings can either be a wonderful, intimate experience, or a nightmare to photograph. Honestly, it all depends upon the backyard.
My excitement was hesitant, until Alexa sent me a video of what to expect. This lush oasis, created with loving care by Alexa‘s parents, was the perfect photo location. In addition to having plenty of things in bloom, there were also nooks and crannies to set up different photo opportunities. And who doesn’t love the added Texas charm of a windmill? Needless to say, once I saw this video, I knew the photos would be great.
Boerne Backyard Wedding – The Schedule
Brianna and Alexa had booked me for two hours of time, so I knew I had to make the most of my time there. Upon my arrival, we started with private portraits of Brianna and Alexa in the backyard. This allowed us to have some time to take photos before all of the guests arrive.
The wedding was a very casual affair, so one event flowed into the next. The guests arrived, and I took plenty of photos of joyful mingling, and wine being poured. After a few detail shots, it was time for the ceremony.
Boerne Backyard Wedding – The Ceremony
The ceremony was officiated by a dear friend of the couple. Many tears were shed when the vows were exchanged. The couple hired a cellist to play during the procession, as well as during the dinner following the event. And stealing the show was Clover, the couple’s dog who did a fantastic job as ring bearer.
Boerne Backyard Wedding – Portraits & Reception
Like I said, this was a very casual affair. After the ceremony, we took a few minutes to toast to the couple. Next up were some family portraits in the backyard. Thankfully, the couple had scheduled their wedding at ‘golden hour,’ so we had perfect light for all of the portraits.
After the photography chores were done, it was time to celebrate. Brianna and Alexa are big foodies, so dinner was the highlight of the evening. Brianna got her culinary chops from her father, and it was a family affair roasting a pork loin on the grill. In addition, both Brianna and Alexa are accomplished oyster shuckers as these photos prove. I’m a huge fan of non-traditional wedding photos, and capturing Brianna in her wedding dress shucking oysters is one of my all-time favorite photos.
Final Thoughts
I left just as the party was getting started. However, Brianna’s father was kind enough to give me a few empanadas and some tasty bread to take home. I am happy to report the food was delicious, and I ate it all before I even got back to my apartment. This was truly a wonderful experience to attend and photograph. I wish Brianna and Alexa all the best as they chart their new course in life together.
