After eight years together, it finally happened — Nina and Thom got married! They said their ‘I dos’ at the Oratory Church of St. Boniface in Brooklyn, followed by a lovely reception at the Farm on Adderley restaurant. The weather was sensational for their big day! A few items to note about this beautiful wedding: this is one creative family. The bride’s mother, Susan Gonzalez, made by hand the bride’s veil as well as the earrings and bracelets for the bridesmaids and two origami centerpieces that decorated the guest card table at the reception. In addition, the bride’s brother, Horacio Gonzalez, designed and made all of the wedding stationery: save the date cards, invitations, and ceremony program included. Guest favors included personalized bags of coffee and ‘passports’ which showcased some of the couple’s favorite NYC restaurants and attractions. A helpful giveaway to guests, many of whom traveled from as far away as Alaska and Spain to attend the wedding. The couple, who got ready in their Brooklyn apartment, did not see each other until the ‘first look’ in the church courtyard. The groom stayed sequestered on the second floor until it was time to walk to the church. The solution to getting the groom out of the house? Blindfold, of course. And in the longtime rivalry between pie and cake, pie won the day with the couple cutting into a piece of chocolate pecan. Congrats to the happy couple, who are now off on their honeymoon in Cambodia! #NinaThom15 #KarateKids #D&DWedding #BrooklynPride #LoveInBrooklyn #PieWins
I will have the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Nina & Thom tomorrow at the Oratory of St. Bonifice with a reception at The Farm on Adderley. These Brooklynites love their borough almost as much as they love each other, and wanted to proclaim their local pride with an engagement shoot at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Grand Army Plaza. Enjoy these pics from their shoot, and I’ll have more photos tomorrow from their wedding. Oh, and check out the moves by these karate super stars. Thom already has his black belt, and last I heard, Nina was going for hers. The couple that kicks together, stays together. #NinaAndThom
