Colleen & John’s Battery Park Engagement
Please meet Colleen and John, who picked the perfect day for their Battery Park engagement shoot. We got to the park just as the sun was setting, and beautiful photos followed. Enjoy the images and stay tuned for photos from their wedding on Staten Island!
For those of you also planning a Battery Park engagement session, here are a few words of advice. First, you technically need a permit to take any organized photos in Battery Park. That said, in all my years of photographing engagements, I have never once come across a park ranger asking for a permit. As such, I would skip paying the $230 photo permit fee.
Second, know that Battery Park has tourists in abundance and virtually no shade. As such, I recommend shooting on a weekday when there are less tourists. Also, try and schedule your session during ‘golden hour’ — one hour after sunrise or one hour before sunset. These photos were shot just before sunset, and the light was simply stunning at that hour. There were no harsh shadows anywhere. The light in Battery Park can be very harsh if you don’t have golden hour working in your favor, so you have been warned. Enjoy the photos!
