With your taxes finally filed, perhaps you are ready to tackle another item on your ‘to do list’: create your own website. A website is becoming a necessary marketing item for more and more professionals. Take the example of my recent client, Dr. Magdolna Saringer: she is a pediatric and adolescent psychiatrist who has her own practice. While it used to be enough to be listed in the phone book, nowadays potential patients are looking online to do some research before they make an appointment.
I worked alongside website designer Tamara Olson, of Tamara Olson Designs, to come up with a set of images with which to introduce Dr. Saringer to potential new clients while still respecting the intimate nature of her practice. Dr. Saringer didn’t want just a boring headshot. Instead, she wanted a set of photos that showcased her warm personality and created a welcoming online presence for new patients.
I used natural light and relaxed poses to capture a sense of movement and energy in each photo. This mood is further enhanced in the last two photos with the photojournalistic, ‘action’ shots of Dr. Saringer at work.
My recommendation to all medical professionals and consultants out there is to shoot outside the box when it comes to your executive portrait. Think of adding a few environmental shots showing you in your office, surrounded by the items that make your space uniquely yours. You may be a professional, but there is still room to illustrate your personality in its best light.
