Michelle & Dan’s DUMBO Wedding
In August I had my first karaoke wedding…yes, you read that correctly. Michelle & Dan, in addition to being nuts about each other, are crazy about karaoke. In fact, it’s how they met. As a fitting tribute, they and their guests rocked the karaoke machine all night. The DUMBO wedding was held at reBar — a cozy and hip venue that perfectly expressed their personalities. Before the wedding we took a few shots at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Enjoy!
The day began with Michelle getting ready Sheraton Brooklyn New York Hotel. This is a go to hotel for DUMBO weddings since it is reasonably priced and conveniently located. Surrounded by family, she put on her retro best and was ready to walk down the aisle. Her vintage-inspired dress and saucy red crinoline was topped off by chic, cherry red kitten heels.
The highlight for me was the portraits we took of Michelle and her bridesmaids in Brooklyn Bridge Park. How cute are those red umbrellas? Love the retro feel and how the umbrellas tied in with Michelle’s precious shoes.
The ceremony was held in a separate room at the venue with the reception being in the main interior space. Guests celebrated the couple saying their vows by having guests raise little ‘Yay’ flags once they broke the glass.
Since they met most of their friends out and about at the karaoke bars, this was the glue that tied them all together. Finding a venue with an appropriate stage for belting out the tunes was their first priority. Michelle and Dan found the perfect match in reBar. Though an atypical choice for a venue, reBar was perfectly cozy for the 50 or so guests yet had more than enough space for both the ceremony and the reception.

2020 edit: Sadly, reBar bit the dust in 2014 thanks to the scam artist owner, Jason Stevens. Read all about it here.
