I am not a big fan of posed engagement photos because posing stifles the natural energy level of the couple. So what do you do about engagement shoots that are inherently posed photo sessions? Turn your engagement session into a story told through the camera, of course! In today’s blog I will give you a list of creative engagement photo shoot ideas and introduce you to Ariel and Jeremiah, who turned their engagement session into a documentary about how they love to cook.
It may not have been as cold in October as it is now, but I remember it being freezing for Alyssa and Greg’s DUMBO engagement. These two put on brave smiles and looked great in front of the camera, despite the low temperatures and high winds. Take a look at their engagement photos, and think warm thoughts: Alyssa and Greg will be getting married in Miami later this year.
A picture is worth a thousand words, right? Here is a couple whose wedding story I can’t wait to tell: Stephanie and Shane. I had the pleasure of photographing their engagement portrait in Brooklyn this fall. Stephanie and Shane love their Windsor Terrace neighborhood, and wanted to tell the story of how they fell in love by taking viewers on a tour of the streets and shops they call home. Enjoy your visit through Windsor Terrace with Stephanie and Shane.
Setting up a surprise marriage proposal always makes me feel like James Bond. With a plan in play and our watches in sync, find out how I conspired with Mark to pull off the perfect proposal to Elena at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Good news for anyone looking to have a photo shoot in the Brooklyn Bridge Park area – construction is almost done! But before I share with you all the details of what is new and improved, let me introduce you to Ashley and Kareem. This beautiful couple’s Brooklyn Bridge Park engagement photos are just a hint of what is to come for their wedding in June of next year. They will be getting married in Cancun, Mexico, so if anyone has any advice for planning an international destination wedding, please pass it along.
I had the pleasure of photographing Derrica and Shawn yesterday for their engagement photo. The weather here in New York has – finally! – taken a turn for the better, and Saturday was absolutely glorious.
I will have the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Nina & Thom tomorrow at the Oratory of St. Bonifice with a reception at The Farm on Adderley. These Brooklynites love their borough almost as much as they love each other, and wanted to proclaim their local pride with an engagement shoot at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Grand Army Plaza. Enjoy these pics from their shoot, and I’ll have more photos tomorrow from their wedding. Oh, and check out the moves by these karate super stars. Thom already has his black belt, and last I heard, Nina was going for hers. The couple that kicks together, stays together. #NinaAndThom
Miriam and Jon are a lovely couple, and I am proud to share with you photos from their engagement shoot at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn! Miriam and Jon live in New York, but will be getting married on the West Coast. As a salute to their home borough of Brooklyn, they decided to do the engagement shoot close to their front door. From a photographer’s perspective, Grand Army Plaza is a great spot for a shoot, especially if you would like to include Prospect Park.
Happy Labor Day everyone! While you are all enjoy your holiday weekend, I thought I would share photos from Michelle and Dan’s engagement shoot at Brooklyn Bridge Park. For the shoot, we used the entire park area from the East River Ferry dock over to Pier 2 and then back to the carousel. The weather was lovely and the crowds were out in force, but we were able to secure some private moments by shooting away from the most popular parts of the park. I also shot their wedding, which happened recently at reBar in Brooklyn. I’ll be sharing those photos soon, but in the meantime, enjoy the pics!
