June got off to a busy start, not with a wedding, but with Bryan’s bar mitzvah. The ceremony, held at Congregation Mount Sinai in Brooklyn Heights followed by a bar mitzvah celebration at the Picnic House in Prospect Park, was completely planned by Bryan’s mother, Amy, and it went off without a hitch. If you have such a family event on your calendar, enjoy these tips from a bar mitzvah photographer so that your celebration can go as smoothly as Bryan’s.
I recently had the pleasure of being the Manhattan bar mitzvah photojournalist for Yoel’s 13th birthday celebration at the Greenhouse Nightclub. The afternoon had everything — from a magician to a great sushi buffet. As Yoel’s celebration proves, the key to a successful bar mitzvah is to have lots and lots of activities for kids and adults alike. As everyone knows, 13-year olds at an age where physical activities — games, basketball, dancing — are popular and a perfect way to put their high energy to good use. For this event, the DJs had plenty of activities for the kids which was a great way to tire them out and keep everyone’s attention. The favors given out to guests were graffiti-inspired photos that guests could personalize at the photo booth. Enjoy the photos!
