Have you watched the fantastically-entertaining TLC show, ’90-Day Fiancé’? Well, I recently shot a wedding that is the real-life story of one such romance. Meet Joanna and Ruben, who started their tale of romance across the pond in Oxford, UK where they were both attending grad school. What started with a chance meeting at a wine tasting grew into a true international love story when Ruben returned home to the States. Joanna eventually moved to NYC to be with Ruben, and with a 90-day deadline before her visa expired, Joanna and Ruben tied the knot. [You can read all about their tale in the pages of the London Times here.]
This couple’s wedding was a true celebration of friends and family, though you would never know they had little time to prepare. The wedding was held on the roof of the couple’s apartment building in Long Island City. This was a great choice — and a good tip for other couple’s if you have access to your roof! — because it was both economical, and provided one of the best views of the New York skyline. Joanna did all of her own flowers, and her aunt helped to create the beautiful place settings which included candy favors for the guests. The reception was held at the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe in SoHo. The pièce de résistance of the evening were the scrumptious cocktail-inspired cupcakes provided by Prohibition Bakery. Enjoy the pics! #JoannaAndRuben2014
