Congratulations to Colleen and John on their recent wedding at Nicotra’s Ballroom in Staten Island! The couple met through mutual friends, and John proposed to Colleen when she came to visit him while he was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Sunset on the beach was the perfect spot for John to drop to one knee and propose to Colleen. She said yes!
A few details to mention about this wedding: first, it was clear to me how much in love Colleen and John are, yet they were both so adorably nervous right before the ceremony! Family was a big part of this wedding, and many family members attended from Ireland. One touching aspect of the wedding was the memento in honor of Colleen’s grandmother which she attached to her bouquet. Colleen and John chose to not see each other before they walked down the aisle. Colleen is a teacher, and after the ceremony all of Colleen’s little students came to give their congratulations (or share their tears as one little girl did).
The reception was a huge, raucous affair. Topping off the Irish theme for the night was a performance by the McLean Avenue Band, who kept the crowd rocking to traditional Irish tunes all night. Nicotra’s Ballroom provided great ambiance for the night, and finally, make sure to check out Colleen’s beautiful lace dress from Kleinfeld’s.
