Summertime, and the livin’ is easy…as the song goes. In celebration of the season, I wanted to share with you a summer engagement shoot with two locations: the Hudson Hotel and Central Park.
Rani and Will are a delightful couple who have shared many good cocktails at the Hudson Hotel. As such, they wanted to include the hotel and its many fond memories in their engagement shoot. Shooting in any private location is nine times out of ten a problem. The venue will either charge a (usually hefty) rental fee, or not allow any photography at all. In this case, we decided to play it sly and get in a few shots while no other patrons were in the bar. [Many thanks to the bartender who turned a blind eye to us!] Be prepared that you are going to face these restrictions if you have any such locations in mind for your engagement shoot. We lucked out this time, but normally this is not the case.
We moved on to Central Park where we ventured from the Bethesda Fountain and Bow Bridge up to Umpire Hill. As you can tell from the photos, Rani and Will chose a weekday where there weren’t as many tourists in the background. I can’t emphasize enough that for optimum photos at a location that is popular tourists, you need to shoot in the off hours. Even so, still come prepared with plenty of patience. Good photos take time, but they are well worth it.
