Beautiful day for a Battery Park engagement shoot, just as the sun is setting. Please meet Colleen and John, who picked the perfect day for their shoot. A few words of advice if you are planning on taking photos in Battery Park. First, you technically need a permit to take any organized photos in Battery Park. That said, in all my six years of shooting engagements, I have never once come across a park ranger let alone a cop asking for a permit. As such, I would skip paying the $230 fee required to shoot here. Keep a lookout, but go ahead and shoot permit free. Second, know that Battery Park has tourists in abundance and virtually no shade. As such, I recommend shooting on a weekday when there are less tourists and to try and shoot during ‘golden hour’: one hour after sunrise or one hour before sunset. These photos were shot just before sunset and you can see how beautiful the light is. There are no harsh shadows anywhere. The light here is very ugly if you don’t have golden hour working in your favor, so you have been warned. Enjoy the photos!
