I recently shot an engagement portrait of Aimee and Colin at NYC’s High Line and the surrounding meatpacking district. In case you’re not familiar, the High Line is a public park built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It is an extremely popular tourist destination in New York, and my recommendation to anyone wanting to have a photo shoot there is to do what we did: get there early on a weekday. At 10:00 a.m. on a Wednesday, we virtually had the place to ourselves which resulted in some great shots.

I recently shot an engagement shoot on Coney Island for the lovely Sandy and Noah. They are a fun couple, and it shows in their choice of location. As always, April is unpredictable, weather-wise, but we made the most of it and the sun was shining by the end of the afternoon. Coney Island is a great location for portrait shoots of all types, but always keep in mind the crowd factor and schedule your shoot either early or late in the day. Also, plan to get a bit wet and sandy on the beach so plan your outfit accordingly!
These two are big dancers (as you will see in their wedding photos), and Noah is quite the acrobat. Coney Island is the perfect place to show off your moves, on the board walk and beyond. Enjoy the photos.

Please meet Catherine and West, whose Red Hook and Brooklyn Bridge Park engagement portrait I recently shot. We started right next to the bridge and worked our way to the end of the park by the former piers. The weather turned out to be perfect! I can recommend both locations highly. For couples considering the park as a possible photo shoot location, you do have to secure a permit if you are shooting during the week (though it only costs $26). No permit is necessary if you are shooting on the weekend, and Red Hook doesn’t require a permit at any time.
